Review by G. Argov for Apple iPod touch 32 GB (3rd Generation) latest model Rating: I have heard both the iPod Touch 1G and 2G before, and just bought the 32GB model from the Apple Store last night. My experience with iPod Touches has been nothing short of amazing, and while I love my new toy, I’m a little disappointed that it offered little in the way of improvements. I recommend it for people who never have the touch, since it is owned by a great device, but that’s simply not worth to buy if you heard an older model.

The iPod Touch is still a large device
(1) The touch-screen input is amazing, although more and more touchscreen competitors tout now, very few seem to have “got it right ‘… My LG Dare, for example, is one touch- MP3 player, but I find it incredibly frustrating to enter text exactly or to navigate accurately through the menus.

(2) It is web integration is seamless. It is a breeze, as It is incredibly intuitive. Surfing the Web on other Internet-enabled devices I was shocked to see how sub-par is the Internet experience. The iPod Touch is really like a portable computer.

(3) The App Store is amazing. There are now around for a while, there is a wide range of different programs available for download. It is important to stress that the competitors to the iPod Touch, even if their own App Stores (Windows Market Place to do not offer, for example) to a comprehensive selection of applications … (yet?).

enhancements over previous models
Even if this new model will not sport is a camera, as I had hoped it offer some improvements. For starters, the increased storage space is convenient, because 32GB is, you can hold more music, videos, applications, but if the place was never a problem for you, you could go for the 2G 8GB. Apart from the increased storage capacity, the new model, a faster processor, do not see much of a difference, but I’m very intense games that are expected as Assassin’s Creed or Grant Theft Auto released sure, the difference noticeable.The earphones have a microphone, which is useful for some apps, but since I mostly my Skull Candy SCS-SCBP3.5 Skullcrushers Subwoofer Stereo Headphones (Black Pinstripe) anyway, I will probably not use the mic as much . Also this new device appears to have a chip for wireless-N and FM radio, although the software still supports it (which means that might be a software update, these two functions). N networks are essential faster than the Wireless-G standard.

DEFECTS No camera, I read a lot about the rumors about the iPod Touch and was really excited that it was supposed to be a camera. Granted, it would not be possible, great pictures (I’ve seen the iPhone camera in action, and it was nothing special), but it is more convenient, a camera on such a powerful device that can access that the Internet existed. Unfortunately there’s no camera. But show tear-ups of the device over the Internet that there is room for one, maybe using that future models they are available means.

STILL no physical keyboard, the I am the Sony Mylo own, and while I have a strong dislike of the device as a whole, I love that in addition has its touch-screen interface, it is a flip-out QWERTY keyboard. The lack of a physical keyboard on the touch spread definitely makes large amounts of text difficult. But for short e-mail and basic Web browsing, the Touch’s onscreen keyboard just fine.

A few final NOTES
The 8GB ’3 G ‘is really a repackaged 2G: I bought the 32GB model, because the 8GB, though one with ’3 rd generation as ‘just a second-generation 3G 8GB model as repackaged. There is no discernible difference between this and the previous generation, the’ 3 G ‘is simply priced lower. Therefore, if you have an iPod Touch before wanted but could not afford one, perhaps the 8GB will now be perfect for you. But I have something new and different (wanted Possession previous models), I the 32GB model, which has 4 times the space than the cheaper, faster processor, and that an earphone-microphone function.

64GB MODEL HAS more space, but no additional improvements over 32GB Model: I do not think that the 64GB model has been worth it, because basically you pay more for more storage space alone (and no other additional features), I have no trouble managing the space on my touch, I have not the feeling that I needed the extra 32GB. Others might find useful for additional space, but as I said before, there is no improvement between the middle (32GB) and above (64GB) prices animal apart from space.

Final thoughts and conclusions
If you never owned an iPod Touch and want to finally see what everyone was raving about, you can now buy one for much cheaper than previously available. If you however, already have an iPod Touch, is the third generation is not different enough to justify buying. Maybe next year if the model has a camera (like this one was rumored to have), or if there is a significant enhancement of other species, then pull the trigger, until then, should your current 1G or 2G be sufficient.

Moore for the Apple iPod touch 32 GB (3rd Generation) latest model Rating: I bought a 64GB Touch from Apple directly came on the day it out – I think it often takes longer, until the new stuff from Amazon published. I replaced my 32GB 2nd to say to generation – and the truth is, the additional 32GB The main difference I notice. Now I can save all my music and video / TV programs and apps to save space with fit, I love it!

A little about me, I am a confirmed fan MP3 player, so I have a wide range of iPods and iPod alternatives: 604/605/5 Archos, iRiver have had Clix2, iPod, Sony Walkman X, Classic / Nano / Touch 1,2,3,4,5, Creative Zen / X-Fi, Cowan U2, Samsung P2 etc. I would compare the iPod Touch 3rd Generation, all these other players.

Let me just say that I am not there assessing the quality of updating, but the unit as a whole. Admittedly, this is a fairly weak update, especially if you were hoping for a camera or GPS. I am a little jealous that the Nano will get a camera and touch not what is it anyway? But ultimately, this is not a video camera for me (I have a flip for it!), So that I do not really care. I’m rating the whole package as MP3 and video player. I wonder how the Touch compare competing products.

Another comment – how can I not say the sound quality that is either for or against. If you really good sound, you pick up a Sony Walkman! However, I find the sound (through my UE11 Pros) are respectable, especially if you manipulate the sound settings to your taste. Neither good nor bad strikingly remarkable, so I do not get SQ-do list either for or against list.

Lets then what I loved about my Touch:

1 ) Beauty – only raw aesthetic pleasure of the touch without a doubt the sexiest MP3 player is looking for, that I ever heard! And it feels darn good in my hand.
2) Software / iTunes – What’s the point even mentioning to discuss an iPod without iTunes? iTunes is undoubtedly the best media player / store interface that I have ever seen. Definitely gives a leg up to any iPod over the competition – although MediaMonkey is quite good in many ways, and that is what I use for my other players.
3) Apps – no one can with Apple’s App Store and the amazing selection of apps to compare well to the touch.
4) Firmware / Updates – Apple’s firmware is probably the best out there. Sony Walkman is pretty good too, but I think Apple receives highest honor. The update process will be smooth on iTunes software update process from any MP3 player I’ve ever seen – even though Archos is close.
5) Play Screen – The touch-screen play really sets the standard that all others aspire. I love how they fill the entire screen with the album cover. The only others that even close to the Walkman.
6) are accessories – the apple happy place it in abundance and accessories readily available at your dealer. Most of my other players need shopping online at cases and what not to find anything.
7) Dedicated volume, home button, power button – as much as I touch screens, his love really nice, a few special keys you without the opportunity may have taken to see the screen.
Browser – The Safari is one of the better browsers for a MP3 player, especially the pinch of multi-touch interface to zoom is really nice. Keyboard is a little hard to use, but can be done with practice.
9) Apple Support – these guys are fantastic on fixing / replacing faulty units. I should know, because I’ve had to send some things over the years back.
10th Speed – they say its faster and I do notice the difference when I use my apps seems a little snappier already now. At this rate, the Touch is on my laptop to replace …

10 regular brands are the iPod Touch 5 stars for the well being of its top class in so many categories! However, an engineer, I always see room for improvement (I hope that Apple listens!)

Things I do not like so well:

1) Play button ? No dedicated play button means this is almost impossible, pause / play by touch. My first Sony Walkman was the best play button always the Archos 605 had a beautiful dedicated PLAY button, although there was a touch screen. I just do not think touch screen should mean everything is done with the Touch Screen!
2) Battery not – be nice if the battery is bad about this thing. Unfortunately, detachable, or even batteries a thing of the past with MP3 Player! Fortunately, they keep Putting new every year so I never use the battery up:)
3) Dock – seems to me that the Apple dock options are sitting pretty weak compared to the Archos DVR dock.
4 ) Video cable – if these TV shows / movies that you buy from iTunes on your TV you will buy a special video cable – my cost $ 50 to see how! Just keep that in mind …
5) Stylus will not work – because this is a capacitance touch screen you can not use a pen, as much as you (or I) might like. It looks brilliant, but hard to use – I like Archos better here.
6) on-screen keyboard – not great, Archos is definitely better for me, because you can use a pen, if you must.

Then add it – big plus nine points, six minor criticisms I have provides some 4.7 stars by my calculations! If you do not need huge storage space or HD video resolution, this is a great MP3/Video player, not necessarily the best in each category, but I would say overall it is the best device on the market.

My recommendations based on your personal preferences:
– iPod touch, if you just want to play just an all around great music player, browser, video player, games, or if you are an App head (I’m soon belong to me!). It does everything!
– Sony Walkman, if you really good sound (the best I think) and / or you want Rhapsody
– Archos 5 if you want a big HD screen, big DVR features , touch screen pen, and / or a large hard drive (500GB coming soon!)
– iPod Nano, if you have a really small slim player in cheerful colors and a $*()^)# video camera!

Franz for the Apple iPod touch 32 GB (3rd Generation) latest model Rating: This review could be summeren in one short sentence: You are at the current killer device for the search for personal entertainment. But I never, never, but short reviews … So here is the long story. Grab a cup of coffee, as this review answers questions you never knew existed.

I must admit that there are few items that have been imprisoned and my passion for as long as the iPod Touch . Two years ago I bought the original Touch, last year I upgraded to the 32 GB, and now I have the 64GB version. Was the upgrade worth it? And what things are yet to be imroved? Even though the Touch is close to perfection, there are many small things that can be improved.

Hardware physically is the new (64GB) touch it is the second identical Generation brothers. It is polished Crome backplate is bent slightly so that your palm perfectly. As before, the fact that it is made of polished chrome’s guarantee that it attracts fingerprints and scratches almost magically. I’m not a fan of any type of protective covers, and my last (32GB) Touch had to live in my pocket with my keys, coins, and other things that I threw to him. After a year, the backplate has a lot of pick scratches, and I expect the 64GB to endure it better. Personally, I would have preferred a brushed finish on the backplate. This may have caused problems with the legibility of the individual engraving that Apple is the touch on the back plate for no additional cost (a nice “touch” that will be increasingly important as the Touch is more ubiquitous,). This engraving can be obtained only if the order through a touch from Apple (it is not available in the Apple Stores).

The front plate of one of the most impressive improvements glass I have ever seen have made. After a year of heavy abuse, has my old touch glass front is not a single scratch – not one. I do not know how Apple does it, but this is really impressive. Remember, I do not use protective covers or transparencies. This time the screen is the color temperature remained unchanged (2G moved all the colors of a blue to a golden tinge). Movie playback is simply amazing. The picture is crisp and the controls on the screen of course. Again, there are subtleties, such as double-tapping the screen with aspect ratio, or placing bookmarks, etc. You can change not yet determined a film contrast, but also that little problem is the playback of movies perfectly. Playing movies on the touch just works great, but I personally believe that the screen is too small to be seen a full movie. Last week I tried watching a TV episode on the plane en route to Hamburg (75 minutes flight time), but quickly decided, however, instead of playing a game “Luxor”. Somehow I prefer to consume a larger screen for video, while I have no problems to do something interactive to have them. However, videos play on the large touch.

Button and Lay-out interface has remained the same from the last generation: volume control on the left side holds the top ‘exit / on “button, dock and Buttom has telephones lines, and the front holds the single home button. It’s one thing that can be improved here: I would prefer the audio port, would have at the beginning (or both sides), as the current configuration includes the use of many applications (eg news and eBook reader), if you want to put up – for example in the gym. Some applications use the accelerometer and can be used, the positioning of the touch on the head, though.

The built-in speaker is unchanged from the last version. It is weak, tinny, mono, horrible noise produced, has no volume to speak – and yet it is one of the best additions to the Touch (the original did not, it has the second generation). It just makes casual gaming so much more fun. I do not care about the poor sound quality, I love the fact that it is there.

The undersigned white headphones, Apple sold with the Touch may look good, but I do not like. In my ears they are too uncomfortable. I do not have audiophile, I can not access their audio quality than others, it’s good enough for me to take a position. Anyway, replaced I with my favorite non-Apple version. The catch is that Apple is now offering the 64GB (and 32GB) with headphones that sport a built-in microphone and remote control. And my head phones have not on. While the remote is not much to write home about it (how it works, is simply too complex), the microphone works well and has just the right fidelity voice pick out above the background noise. So now I always have the white buds with me if I want to use the IP telephony functions.

The battery life seems to have diminished somewhat, carried out by the second generation – at least on paper. In recent days, the new 3rd Gen Touch certainly become as good as or even better than my second generation – but then again, that the battery is already a year old. a fact that I love is the very quick ability: Charge what works really well.

The integrated wireless connectivity is really nice, with amazingly well-executed integration. The Touch does everything the wireless networking via WiFi and Bluetooth. WiFi works really well (especially here in Switzerland, where hotspots are particularely tight) and Bluetooth integration (which I tried out in the third generation for the first time) is flawless. WiFi reception (range) lagging somewhat behind that a Wintel laptop (no doubt by the metal backplate) and is pretty much on par with that of a 15-inch MacBook Pro (which is also something missing in WiFi reception area). WiFi is still the “g” version though [Interestingly enough, the built. Hardware support 11n, but so far Apple has decided not to activate it, presumably to save battery This is interesting also from the fact that in the 2G Touch, Apple initially included Bluetooth features, but only then activated it with a later OS release. Maybe the same will apply to 11n] expected. Bluetooth now works with BT headsets and car kits-based integration (works well with me). I would have liked to try out BT-based printing from calendar or address book app, but hit a snag: It seems not Touch App supports printing …

missing hardware
There are some hardware that I expected or media en, that it was included in the touch – especially since (some) of them are now on other iPods:
No camera. I was somewhat ambivalent about this. No camera means no pictures and / or movies. But it also means that I think can handle it rough, as I do not worry about Abou the lens. I also have to worry about taking it to the gym (my gym has very strict rules in the direction of camera-equipped items). All things being equal, which would be in addition to a camera (still and / or video) have been nice, but I do not miss much (frankly, I’m still using the camera on my phone).

And finally, there is no receiver. I am definitely not a radio man, as I almost never hear. But shows do some people (yours as well a ton IP wireless applications), and yet, the Nano is now – even with a nice Tivoesque pause function! Why does not the Touch? Strange design choice.

IPod & iTunes
The original iPod was the sheer strength of brilliant user experience – and the touch-based interface represented a mile-stone in improving this. To date, there is simply no better iPhone than the multimedia interface of the touch /. It is after a few seconds of course. It is stunningly beautiful, with muted highlights, and sent through a small (though give flashy) accentuated animations that the different metaphors of the interface (for example, bouncing the rubber bands when you reach the end of a playlist). As no interface before you use immediately to achieve complex tasks with the flick of a finger. Usage is pure, unadulterated fun. The Cover Flow album browsing is one of the least useful, but it is definitely the most natural (and fun) way to even though you flip music. And it is stunningly well executed (Note: When should you use Cover Flow, you ensure that you have installed all the covers of all music, not to acquire from the iTunes Store).
On the basis of all music to iPod is playing the playlist, playlist and use on the touch is a joy. The interface is mature whileplaying, offers niceties such as displaying a song on a single tap, along with simple controls for singularily Repeat and Shuffle. The 64GB now also supports the voice recognition – and I’m sure it is a marvel of technology. But (like the auto-correction system for text) it usually works only in English. Some apps seem “snappier” during the start-up (small applications) or running (games, mostly), but all to believe in everything the Touch seems to be quite as fast as the last generation. This leads me that the real bottleneck is the execution of internal memory (not the 64 GB of memory, but processor-memory) and ony applications that are written specifically will benefit to the benefits of new technology (OpenGL ES). Or in other words, the overall speed has improved so much.

SDK so want a geek? are already • You can write your own applications for the Touch, if you wish. I have taken the plunge and downloaded SDK. Note that the SDK to download and develop for the Touch / iPhone without actually owning one. The development system is with an iPhone simulator, you can use to download your applications without trial to an actual device (it has some limitations: simulate, for example, not the accelerometers are, and you have no indication of the true speed of execution). Well You need a Mac for this (although it may be a few years old). The SDK is impressive – overwhelming, even if you do not work on Mac programming (and almost prohibitively complex used if you do not like to Cocoa frameworks and object-oriented programming are used). It is the killer personal entertainment device. Buy it. You know you want it – especially if you have read this far. If you have the second-generation iPod, you must ask yourself if the slight speed bump and the extra storage is worth the hefty price . For me, it was, but the performance may vary.

Review by Alex Honda for the Apple iPod touch 32 GB (3rd Generation) latest model Rating: This is my first iPod and MP3 player. So far I have the iPod Touch (32-GIG/3RD GEN) for two weeks had and I love it.

It is not much more than just play music, so I wanted to be. I’m not a Mac person at all, but the iPod Touch … I love it.

Out of the box it found my Wi-Fi connection and had me surfing the web (the real Internet, not the phone’s web pages like the one on my phone to Verizon). It was intuitive to use and I am finally scroll on the touch screen, and give yourself accustomed.

This review is mostly for other iPod newbies like me. Here is what comes with it:

*** The iPod Touch-slick and smooth and very thin

*** on a USB cable that hooks your iPod the computer to recharge the battery, and syncing with iTunes.

*** Plastic Docking Thing This is a small plastic piece that allows you to dock your iPod to an external device (I’m not sure what).

*** headphones with microphone and external volume control.

*** Teeny-tiny-bare-bones insert info. You have full access is manual, which is available for free download in PDF format on the Apple Web site.

My advice, buy an external case for the iPod – the second Generation iPod Touch skins / cover the new 3rd generation fit those, because the body is the same – and buy a screen protector, so you keep the screen free from scratches and such. I already have the shiny back of my iPod only by scratching it on the table so be careful when you first if you do not have a cover for them.

As long as you have Wi-Fi (wireless Internet access) in your house / apt, you can get full use out of the iPod Touch. You can also access free Wi-Fi hotspots in shops, restaurants and other areas, so that you receive on the Internet and download applications (Apps), etc., check your e-mail, go to Facebook, YouTube, Amazon even has an app, this can be downloaded to the iPod.

The iPod touch is the automatic search for wireless networks are configured, it provides for both ‘locked (You need a password) or unlocked (no password) networks and displays them in the settings for “Wi-Fi.” You have to really do not know anything about Wi-Fi it began. I know I sound like a broken record with the “free” stuff, but as a Verizon Wireless user, I’m sure other VZW customers you feel me, I am surprised that you Download and install quality, portable applications that we plan on a device for no charge or subscription.

Calendar dates, etc., contact phone book, clock, weather, calculator (you can download a free tip calculator), notes and maps. All of this to come with the iPod Touch.

ITunes holds the stuff (music, apps, videos) on your iPod, backed-up on your computer so that you always keep a copy of these things. And you can say it to synchronize the play-lists, so that you have not to wear around your entire music and video library on your computer to the portable.

Anyway, I am my beloved iPod Touch and it was the perfect birthday present for me. It really is like a mini computer with you at all times. The only thing missing is a camera, but that’s no big deal at all. It is great for people who want an iPhone, but do not want AT & T’s lousy service. I also love not having to pay a monthly subscription fee for Verizon apps on my phone that I now have the iPod Touch
/> The only thing I would ever recommend – in addition to the iPod – is the Protector Cover Skin and Screen Protector mentioned, and the Apple USB Power Adapter with which you connect the USB cable into an outlet, be (although it is not necessary, it loads much faster than if it loaded from your computer).

Since this is my first iPod, I do not know how it stacks against the earlier versions. But this one is great and really addictive! So ask if you know whether you should get any and you have no iPhone, have access to Wi-Fi, then I would say … Yes! The iPod Touch has so much to the user that something to do with it, even if you do not plan to find them as an MP3 player you all that much to offer.

A Note ** * *** About iTunes
Even if you do not buy, MP3s – I have just purchased three of iTunes, the rest was from Amazon purchases by borrowing from special and iPod can play it – iTunes is really convenient because it Songs on CDs makes that easy by collecting them and transform them into MP3s. The program will also retrieve song and artist information for you so you do not have to label the file after you import it. From there you can make your own playlists and burn you not to mention your own CDs from playlists, it was on your iPod, so it’s definitely worth and really easy to use.

no FM radio without the use of online applications
Bluetooth is still half locked
